Interview with Andrew Brown, Product Manager for Jade Dynasty

September 3rd, 2010

It has been a pleasure to interview Andrew Brown about the next expansion of Jade Dynasty: Vengeance. Everyone is excited about the new features and content.

Check here all you need to know about Jade Dynasty.

How would you describe Vengeance in a few words? Is it a big change for Jade Dynasty?

Answer:  Vengeance continues the epic struggle between humans and the immortals. We’re adding two new factions to the immortal, Athan race and are implementing a new Territory Wars system, which will let alliances battle it out for control of the Jade Dynasty world.

Why did you choose the name Vengeance? Does it mean something in particular?

Answer: The expansion title, Vengeance, ties into and continues where the last expansion, Ascension, left off. Now that the delicate truce between humans and the immortals has been broken, the Athans are sending down two additional factions to fight against the humans for “Vengeance.”

Everyone is talking about the new two Athan factions. Could you go deeper on the Rayan and the Celan?

Answer: Certainly. The Rayan faction is a deadly assassin class that features a pretty cool stealth mode and the ability to “clone” themselves to give both monsters and other players additional damage. The Celan class is a support class that is able to give various buffs and debuffs to friends or foes and is great for grouping.

What about the territory wars system?

Answer: With the introduction of the Territory Wars system, alliances will be able to, for the first time, battle against each other for control over the world of Jade Dynasty. Alliances that hold territories will not only get bragging rights, but also gain benefits for everyone in the alliance.

Can you tell us something about the new PvP daily events? What kind of events are waiting for us? What rewards we will earn?

Answer: While there are a great variety of new daily quests and events added to this expansion, the only addition with a pure PvP focus is the new Territory Wars system.  Even though the battle itself lasts over the course of a weekend, the continuous planning and preparation to successfully conquer and defend can make this event feel like a true ‘daily.’

Would you talk to our readers about the easier partying system that Vengeance will bring to Jade Dynasty?

Answer:  We’ve implemented a new chat function that will allow players to talk to similar level players across realms, which will help immensely to find a party for a particular quest or raid. Instead of needing to be in the same realm or close to each other, players will be able to use this feature to party faster and spend less time organizing and more time playing.

What can you say about the Auction House?

Answer: The Auction House will bring a new and unique twist to bidding for items. It will only be available to players for a short period of time during the day and will feature high level and one-of-a-kind items, which will award items to players for having the most unique bid versus the highest.

What will we see after Vengeance? Is there something in your mind? Is there a new secret expansion under development? ;)

Answer:  We are always working on upcoming content for patches, updates and expansions and once Vengeance is launched, we’ll be carefully listening to player feedback.

Finally, do you have something to say to your players directly?

Answer: Jade Dynasty Vengeance will continue the epic struggle between humans and the immortals and hope you check it out. Since all of our games are free-to-play, you don’t have anything to lose, but a whole lot to gain. You can download Jade Dynasty from the official website.

Events to celebrate the two million players of Combat Arms

September 2nd, 2010

Nexon Europe has announced that it has surpassed two million players in its f2p FPS, Combat Arms. This two million milestone marks the ongoing success of the game in the European gaming market, and to celebrate there will be a number of exciting events taking place throughout September, offering soldiers the chance to receive some great rewards, as well as embarking on a new mission in its new map, ‘Dredge’.

After reaching over two million players in just eight months from hitting one million, Combat Arms is locked and loaded for the next four weeks to celebrate this great achievement with the ‘Autumn of 2,000,000 Soldiers’ event. Soldiers will be able to receive rewards from extra EXP/GP to new gears including HiSec keys, supply crate MYST-G and even a special Guillotine blade. There are lots of chances for players to get involved with this big event including a special daily log in reward and 100% bonus EXP and GP on all servers throughout the weekends.

Also, soldiers will be able to participate in ‘Gift one, Get one’ where drop rate of the HiSec Cases will be increased on all servers. Moreover, any soldier who decides to gift a black HiSec key to their comrades will receive the same number back from central command. And if this wasn’t enough, Combat Arms is also holding a 20 days login bonus for any soldier that logs in to the game at least 20 days within September. Every candidate will receive ten EXP and GP bonus passes, and will also be in with a chance of winning a 30 day ‘Super Elite Moderator’ bonus or a have 90 day use of a Guillotine blade.

Combat Arms is also continuing with its monthly updates, and is bringing a brand new map to the game this September. Operation ‘Dredge’ will need soldiers to infiltrate the terrorist’s plans of their elaborate system of bombs throughout the city’s sewer system, and execute a mission to stop the terrorists from creating mass destruction. However, it will take more than raining bullets to stop them; it will take some serious guts!

Along with this exciting new map, users will be able to get their hands on some very valuable weapons on the Black Market, with the new GP and NX items that Nexon Europe is bringing to the game.

Also, new features to the game have been added within the update including a new video recording feature, as well as a YouTube uploading feature. This will allow users to not only create their own game play videos a lot easier, but will also enable them to share with a wider community. And as an incentive for soldiers to try this out, a second ‘Capture the Video’ contest is taking place, where soldiers need to create a video of their game play relating to the ‘Fire Team’ mode and upload it to YouTube.

September 2nd, 2010

When the brand new Tragic Trojan Expedition map opens on September 8th, players of GodsWar Online will have the chance to join the epic assault on Troy. Paris, the seductive Trojan prince, has lured Helen away to his city. Agamemnon, the great Greek leader, has decided to launch an attack on Troy to get her back. Warriors from all over Greece have rallied to his banner. Will you help defeat Paris and reclaim Greece’s greatest beauty? How long will you last against the fierce warriors of Troy? It’s up to you to decide how the siege will end.

The map is divided into two parts, the Beach Assault and the City Assault. The beach is guarded by three legendary Trojan heroes: Archer Pandarus, Warrior Sarpedon and Prince Lycaon. The inner city is guarded by the two princes of Troy: Paris and Hector. Players must defeat these bosses one by one. Once each boss is eliminated, the next one will spawn, along with the warriors they command.

When all three Beach Assault bosses have been defeated, players can contact the Troy Transporter to be teleported to the inner city of Troy. Players can also use the Beach Transporter NPC to return to the beach. After a boss has been killed, players can claim fabulous rewards from their treasure chests, including Exp Pills, profession recipes, or the powerful Achilles Rage. The more bosses you defeat, the better the rewards.

All kills will be added to your guild’s score and your personal score. Players can speak with the Event Awarder to claim prizes after the event has ended. The highest scoring guild will earn the title of “Top Greek Guild.” Guild members must participate in the event to be eligible to claim the title, which will last for one week.

He became consumed with the very strength that had nourished him… Mad with rage and as yet unable to control his destructive power, Ogrest let his wrath beat down upon the World.

[GamesCom] Vindictus time

August 27th, 2010

During GamesCom, we sat with Scott Yoo, marketing and PR manager for Nexon Europe, to talk about Vindictus, the first physics-based multiplayer action role-playing game that combines stunning visuals with high-speed combat.

Vindictus uses a modified Source engine to enable actions like throwing, shattering, binding with chains, piercing with spears, and more. As characters take more damage in the game, their armor starts to disintegrate and fall off.

It will be a free to play game which will feature a cash shop. But if you are worried about, Scott told us that they want a fair game. So, within the digital store you could find virtual items which won’t affect the gameplay. For example: decoration items, exp boosts and that kind of stuff.

“Defeating bosses and clearing dungeons in Vindictus requires cooperation and strategy. While one player uses weapons like chain whips to pin giant bosses in place, the other party members sneak behind to attack or stand on the sidelines to cast healing spells to replenish everyone’s strength. Parties of up to four can enter dungeons together and dungeons vary for each Battle Quest ensuring players will never get bored. Raid parties can grow to as many as eight.”

He talked too about the closed beta. Europeans will have to wait till December to join the game and the starting language will be english. But, probably, many languages will come in the future. Scott mentioned german, italian, french and spanish.

One of the more special features is the leveling system. Depending on how many attacks you did, and the time you spent to complete a map, you will be rewarded with score points which will define your experiencie points later. You will need around ten minutes to complete a map successfully.

“Vindictus will redefine the free to play games market. “

[GamesCom] Atlantica Online: Troy exclusive video presentation

August 27th, 2010

We have talked with Benedikt Leurs, product manager for Key Factor, Elisa SooKyung, marketing manager for Ndoors, and Andre Ruff, german community manager for Ndoors, during GamesCom, about Troy. They have showed us Troy, its new features, and we have filmed some really impressive videos which you can watch right here, in HD quality, through our channel. Also, you can check out the new screenshots we have uploaded.

Benedikt & Andre

Troy utilizes Atlantica Online’s latest evolution in turn-based combat: The Tactical Battle System (TBS).  With this system, there are many ways to play: Tactical Battles offer Raid-style encounters for teams of friends to overcome; Skirmishes allow casual players to dive straight into battle with standard groups of enemies. Neither system replaces Atlantica’s lauded classic combat system, instead allowing players to choose from a wide range of playstyles.

Through TBS, players command up to eight mercenaries, recruited in their travels, along with their main characters in TBS. Each mercenary has unique traits and abilities, allowing complete customization of a team – and just like the main character, mercenaries level up and grow in strength through gameplay.

Players can form squads with their friends and guild mates to fight in colossal struggles of conquest with dozens of characters per side. And with as many as nine players in a Trojan War battle, and up to four characters under each player’s control, TBS takes strategic combat to a whole new, epic level.

As the weather changes, wind can spread fires while rain might cause flooding. Players can set traps for their enemies at strategic locations, or use the buildings at their base camp to upgrade their mercenaries. In TBS, the most resourceful tactician is the victor.

- NEW MOUNTS AND TACTICAL BATTLE SYSTEM -

- NEW MERCENARIES -

Along with TBS, Atlantica Online introduces the My Home System, which allows players to customize their “home”. Once players purchase a home, they can visit it from any location with the click of a button. By crafting or purchasing any of the hundreds of furnishings available, players can create a truly unique home and safe haven for themselves.

Mercenaries leveled up through combat by players can be hired to work as chefs and artisans in his household.  These employees will hold conversations, cook meals, and craft items on the player’s command. Players can throw parties for their friends to receive buffs, use cabinets and armoires to store their items, and harvest resources from their yard. Owning a house becomes a practical investment for the active homeowner.
