With Winter Showdown, World of Tanks today receives a pretty interesting new gameplay mode that thrusts players into a wintry backdrop featuring 8-bit tanks to do warfare with. The mode incorporates new platooning options and special Gold rounds that allow players to heal their team-mates.

The Winter Showdown mode lets participants choose from three original 8-bit vehicles, including the Arctic Fox light tank, the Polar Bear tank destroyer and the Mammoth heavy tank. Players also have the option to decide for different game setups such as 10v10 in radom battles or 2v2 mega platoons.

Winter showdown will be the only mode to support these mega platoons that allow players to platoon with five instead of only three other players. Tankers moreover have the chance to obtain the new Operation Winter medal.
