Tribes: Ascend Gets a Huge Content Update

Tribes Ascend - news

Hi-Rez has just released a huge update for Tribes: Ascend, its sci-fi online shooter. This update adds game new maps, weapons and gear, class changes, changes to the vehicles and improvements in the general gameplay.

The three new maps added in this update are:

  • Ice Coaster, a huge map that can be played in the CFT and Blitz modes, and is inspired by the Tribes 1 legacy map Rollercoaster.

  • Perdition, a small map for the CTF and TDM modes inspired on the Tribes 2 legacy map Damnation.

  • Terminus, a medium size map that can be played on CTF and Blizt modes, inspired by Katabatic and Arx Novena.

This update also allows players to completely customise their loadouts. Now we can enjoy 9 custom loadouts per armor (light, medium and heavy) which can no longer be purchased. On the other hand the three types of armor have received some changes, in addition to an overall increase of health: the light armor now regenerate health more slowly, medium armors are 10% more large and give 25% more energy while piloting vehicles, and heavy armors are 15% more large and now when body-blocking you deal damage to other players.

Another change of the update is that the armors, packs, weapons and belt items have been rebalanced. The update also adds new weapons like the sniper rifle BXT1, doesn’t drain energy when fired.

Also, vehicles have been modified to make the game more balanced. Now the anti-vehicle weapons make a 25% - 50% deal 25% - 50% more damage, and the health of vehicles has been reduced a bit to compensate. The game has also received several general improvements. Optimizations have been made to improve network performance and server browser now sorts by player slots by default.
