Skyforge is a Sci-Fantasy MMORPG developed by Team Allods (Allods Online) and in it players have the chance to rise up as powerful deities that look after the world and its people; their prayers and pleas for divine intervention are heard by these protectors and readily answered as these powerful “divine” beings must now battle against those malign “gods” that look to turn the world to chaos. The game has a number of unique features that really make it stand out as well as some impressive graphics, but here is just a few of the things we like for our newest article.

Cinematic Graphics
The game looks epic, which makes it feel epic. Everything about the game visually makes you feel like you are in an epic adventure, the graphics and special effects bring the game to life incredibly well and there’s few games out there that we feel capture the atmosphere of the world quite like Skyforge has managed. Whether the model designs or animations, or the impressive environments looking over wild forests and canyons or overlooking huge metropolis sized cityscapes, the game is visually stunning. Combined with the cinematic cut scenes that flow into the gameplay seamlessly and voiced NPC quests, the whole experience is extremely immersive.

Questing
Questing feels innovative and fun. The voiced NPCs already give life to the game but the way picking up and completing quests is handled is extremely intuitive and enjoyable; instead of having to constantly find NPCs and pick up all their quests instead players can find the active quest areas on their map and then when they enter the area the quests become active. Similarly when completing quests the tedium of having to always return back to another NPC to turn in the quest you can actually do it on the spot and receive the rewards whilst you’re playing, which is definitely a welcomed alternative from the more old style MMORPG quest systems.

Dynamic and Action Focused Combat
Combat is fast and skill based. With aimed skill shots, active dodging and a variety of skills at hand the combat in the game is very fun and does require an element of skill and timing when taking on more difficult challenges. Watching enemies charge up their shots and actively timing a dash to get out of the way helps in both PVE and PVP. Many creatures in PVE will drop health regen when they die, keeping players in the thick of battle for longer so that they don’t have to constantly run from battle to heal up.

Class Switching
Players aren’t bound to a single class. One of the most unique elements of the game is that players aren’t only locked to a single class when creating their character; they are able to actively change into any of the thirteen classes on the fly whilst out in the game world. Not only does this feature mean that players don’t have to fret over which class they should start out as, or never getting to experience all of the classes, or worry about having to invest time and effort into multiple characters, but it also changes up the combat. When you’re facing an enemy then some classes may outperform others and the ability to switch between them is a saving grace, furthermore when grouping with other players to take on a group instance players don’t need to worry about much about finding someone to fill every role as each player has that capability.

High Levels of Class Customization
Players can customize each class in various ways. Whilst every class is playable in a single character players do have to level each of them up individually using the Ascension Atlas system; players earn crystal resources and must spend them on a huge network of skills, stat increases and passives to unlock different nodes. Each class has its own Atlas and whilst the choices start extremely linear unlocking basic skills and stats in a specific order, the upper levels of the Ascension Atlas are extremely diverse and players can take each class into a multitude of different specializations depending on the type of playstyle they prefer.

General Accessibility
Players can get access to most features on the fly. Similar to how players can pick up quests and not have to go back and forth to hand them in, the same can be said of picking up mail, crafting, selling junk loot and more. All of this can be done from the players default menu instead of having to find the appropriate vendor, terminal and ultimately heading back to civilization to sort out your inventory then making your way all the way back to the questing area to carry on playing.
