SWTOR: Roadmap for Future Updates

Star Wars The Old Republic - news

The Senior Producer for Star Wars: The Old RepublicBruce Mclean, has just released detailed information on what players can expect to see in the game this year: new ships, flashpoints, Nightmare Operation modes, a new Huttball map, a new Galactic Battle Zone, new tiers of gear and much more.

"Expect to see two digital expansions in 2014 just like you did last year, with one similar to Galactic Starfighter in scope and one more closely resembling Rise of the Hutt Cartel."

Starting today, February 4, the digital expansion "Galactic Starfighter" is available to all non-paying players, introducing 6 new Galactic Starfighter ships featuring a new ship role, the Bomber. These tough support ships deploy drones and mines on the battlefield and are even able to place Hyperspace Beacons which function as mobile respawn points for their allies. Newly added detailed scoreboards will give players various information about their battle performance after a match is over.

The expansion moreover includes a new modular type of flashpoint: Available to players from level 15+, Kuat Drive Yards Tactical Flashpoint scales in difficulty with the player's level and contains different scenarios each time they play it.

From March 14 until March 17, players may enjoy a Double XP Weekend, before game update 2.7 is due to be released in April 8, including 2 new Flashpoints on Tython and Korriban where The Republic and Empire will clash, triggering a new storyline that will continue throughout several updates until culminating in a galaxy-shaking climax. Players will be moreover treated with a new Galactic Starfighter Battle Zone, a new Huttball Warzone on Quesh as well as a new Nightmare Modes and a new tier of gear.

The next game update 2.8 is already scheduled for June 10 and will feature another Nightmare Mode Operation, new ships and another role for Galactic Starfighter and many more exciting things. It is said to be the hugest update yet, further details are promissed for late spring/ beginning of summer.

Rumor has it that Housing could be included in one of those new digital expansions. However, nothing is confirmed as of yet, so stay tuned.
