Players Speak About Skyrama

Skyrama - op-ed headlogo - EN

Skyrama is a free to play browser based strategy MMO where players get to build up their own airport, earn new planes and manage the day to day affairs of your site, unlocking and constructing new buildings. The game has a cooperative nature where added friends can send planes to and from each other’s airports to gain extra benefits, as well as trying to get the best airport you can and compete against other players in the community for friendly competition. We threw the game over to our resident community member reviewers for our Players Speak and this is what they had to say:

  • JimSlam: Skyrama just isn’t a game I would ever play willingly, not that it’s necessarily bad for what it is and I’m sure it holds a lot of appeal for players who like Farmville style games (which is what Skyrama is, only building an airport and sending out planes). The graphics are decent enough, tutorials clear and concise, but this is a kids game, I can’t see with all the games available why anyone would want to play this kind of game… there’s like… a million free to play games out there. I just don’t get the appeal. Seriously.

  • IAMJohn: I can see why people would become addicted to the game, and games like it, it’s very easy to just start playing and there’s something about it that draws you in with its casual/easy to play mechanics. You’re playing, picking up new things and then for some reason you become a little more invested and get curious about trying to get the next best plane, or place one more building, just to see what if… If the game had a little more interaction to play cooperatively with other players then it might be the kind of game that keeps me interested, but it’s realistically just solo play in a browser that you’d pick away at casually; the actual in game communications are pretty slow as well.

  • Kittypride: Surprisingly I like the game, I have played a lot of similar Facebook games and so knew what I was getting myself in for, it starts a little slow but once you start developing your airport, getting more buildings, more planes, you suddenly have a lot more to do. The “Collections” souvenirs system is like a drug to someone like me, sending out your plane to the different countries in the world you can bring a particular collectible back, which is added to a particular sets, there’s dozens of sets to complete which you unlock achievements/rewards for and so becomes its own mini-game.

  • Ballgon: Laughable trash. It’s mindless clicking with no skill, no strategy and honestly the type of people that are into these types of game obviously don’t have much in the way of taste. Sitting in front of the screen refuelling planes, clicking them to ready with maintenance, clicking them to put them on the runway then clicking them so they take off….. wow… gripping. These games are always the same, start out boring, get people interested so they become addicted and drop some cash, then stagnates in the late game when you realize everything is the same. Pass.

  • Tenebrae: An interesting game, I’ve actually played Bigpoint’s other title Farmerama before, so I can definitely tell the similarities, but I think the number of features available was quite interesting. Having to actively keep an eye on your incoming planes and manage them personally was fun, makes you feel like an actual air-traffic controller (okay not quite..) but getting to send planes out to various countries which marks them off your world map to see where you have been is fun and gives players something to actively work towards.

  • Elijah: Dangerous time sink. I tried it out for this article and found myself playing it far longer than I needed to, it reminded me of Civilizations “Just.. one… more…turn…”, there’s so much to click, always something to do, another plane landing, another to send out; it was hard to stop playing. When you look up and you’ve spent a couple of hours I can’t say I thought “Wow that was great fun”, but I didn’t hate it.

  • Your_Nemesis: Kind of boring in my opinion with not enough to do, sure there’s plenty of clickables, but it’s all doing generally the same thing; maintain planes, load them up and send them off. Work towards getting the next building, upgrade, next building, upgrade, and repeat. It’s generally how the game felt, doing the same thing but in a cycle where each time you come around everything is slightly better from the previous upgrades and the only thing to do next is upgrade everything again.

So that’s what our players think, but how about you? Do you play Skyrama? If not then why not? What do you like or hate about it, and what are your opinions on our players reviews? Let us know in the comments!
