InnoGames has just communicated the introduction of a new special unit type to the English languages versions of their free-to-play MMORTS Grepolis. Beginning today, players have various unique heroes based on Greek mythology at their disposal.

Players are now able to use famous Greek heroes such as Leonidas, Heracles and Andromeda amongst others as a new kind of special unit in battle. All of them have multiple unique abilities and will only be available on specific new game worlds to avoid a shifting balance in already established worlds.

In order to be able to recruit a hero, players have to accomplish island quests to obtain either coins of wisdom or coins of war. These coins are also used to increase their hero's level, which will enhance their basic stats as well as the power of their special skills. Each hero can be assigned to one city to also be sent to battle from there.
