We’re taking a look at Plarium’s Spartan-themed city building strategy, Sparta: War of Empires. In this browser only MMO players must compete against each other to expand their territories, build up their cities, and field an army to protect them. The game is apparently free to play, but our F2P Meter will be the judge of that!

Players must pay to increase their Dominion level as well as pay to activate it (or earn Dominion Points through logins), which provides a variety of bonuses based on their personal Dominion level.

Yes – -5%. Players can purchase a wide variety of in-game element with cash microtransactions ranging from Drachma premium currency to various packages.
Yes – -15%. Whilst there are a handful of cosmetic items to improve the look of your city, the majority of the items are to provide advantage. These advantages are typically in the form of individual items or boosts, or larger packages, that provide all types of offensive and defensive advantage as well as economic boosts.

No. Trading is not limited to paying players.
No. Increasing storage is all part of the game and available to all players.

Yes – +10%. It’s a lot harder to survive against the throngs of paying players who buy their victories. Being smart and teaming up with other players in a Coalition can make this task a lot easy and with that makes the game a lot more fun. Being a solo player is very difficult in the game and you can quickly become the target of more powerful players who will repeatedly sack your cities for resources.
