Durango WorldWide Release in the Fall

Nexon and What! Studio announced Durango, the open-world sandbox massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) set in a primitive alternate universe inhabited by dinosaurs, will be available worldwide on mobile this Fall. Players are warped from their world into Durango, where they will discover the rich primitive environment intermixed with modern items from their previous world. To survive, players will use the modern materials and technologies transported from their former lives and embrace becoming pioneers to explore, cultivate and evolve the vast and dangerous wilderness -- depending on how they interact with the virtual environment and with one another. Durango is the next evolution of fully-featured MMO experiences on mobile giving players full freedom to pursue various game pillars, all while meshing unique exploration and city building experiences with real-time collaborative and head-to-head battles against enemy clans and colossal dinosaurs.

“Durango raises the bar for persistent and massive open-world games on mobile devices,” said Lawrence Koh, General Manager, Nexon M. “What! Studio has created a rich and dynamic experience for players to truly become pioneers amongst dinosaurs, allowing them to shape the world, events and story through social gameplay and cooperative and competitive in-game events.”

In these uncharted lands, players will band together to survive against carnivorous dinosaurs and flourish in this new world ripe for exploration. Adventurers will learn to use the land to their advantage and craft weapons, armor and tools in order to develop villages that can grow from crude gatherings to massive fortresses. Durango utilizes a revolutionary procedurally generated world building system that populates the massive open world with an infinite number of locations to discover and explore. Players will be able to colonize a vast number of stable continents or uncover and travel to unstable islands filled with resources, dinosaurs and secrets to uncover across a range of ecosystems and biomes that will surface and disappear into the sea at a moment’s notice.

“Durango captures all of the fun and spontaneous surprises of a dynamic and action-packed open-world game that can be enjoyed with friends anywhere, anytime,” said Eunseok Yi, Game Director of What! Studio. “After more than three years in development, we’re ready to put the world of Durango into the player's hands to shape by uncovering the world together, forging communities and friendships, building their own villages and strongholds and battling rival clans for supremacy.”

The primitive creatures of Durango are part of the game’s living environment and ecosystem, from traveling in packs in search for water to banding together to fight other competing groups. Dinosaurs are much more than just enemies to be hunted, but they can also be tamed, trained and even ridden into battle. As the world of Durango expands players have the choice to create or join powerful clans or go at it alone, building villages in an effort grow influence and dominance among other players. Rival clans and players can challenge each other in real-time player versus player (PvP) or Clan versus Clan combat to see who has the strongest clan and the most powerful trained dinosaurs.
