Battlestar Galactica Online review:

Developed by Bigpoint for internet browsers.

SYNOPSIS

Battlestar Galactica Online is a free to play browser MMORPG which puts you in the cockpit of a spaceship as human or Cylon to join the battle between man and machine across the galaxy, with intense space combat and cutting-edge 3D graphics. There are multiple ships to command, with a huge variety of upgrades and customisation choices. Also, varied progression options that offer the freedom to create your ideal Battlestar Galactica character.

BACKSTORY

The cylons were created by man. They evolved. They rebelled. 40 years after the first Cylon War, the Cylons returned and laid waste to the Twelve Colonies. Gathering a ragtag fleet of civilian ships, the ageing Battlestar Galactica managed to escape the attack and set out to find the legendary home of the Thirteenth Tribe of Man - the planet known as Earth.

After months of relentless pursuit by Cylon forces, the Battlestar Galactica and the Colonial Fleet under her protection reunited with the Battlestar Pegasus, another survivor of the Cylon attack. Together they managed to strike back and destroy the Cylon Fleet's Resurrection Ship.
Lost

Enraged by the loss of the Resurrection Ship, the Cylons launch a massive counterattack against the Colonial Fleet. Caught unprepared, the Colonials attempt to jump away to safety, but something goes terribly wrong. The FTL drives of both fleets are overloaded by a massive pulse of energy, triggering an uncontrolled jump that throws them far off course.
Stranded

In Battlestar Galactic Online, both the Colonial and Cylon fleets find themselves stranded in an unexplored area of space at the very edge of one of the galactic arms. Heavily damaged and critically low on resources, both fleets race against time to repair and rearm, struggling for control of systems rich in Tylium, metals and water. The Colonial fleet desperately searches for a way to escape and continue the search for Earth before the Cylons gain enough strength to destroy them once and for all.

HUMAN CHARACTERS

Admiral Adama
The Admiral of the fleet and commanding officer of the battlestar Galactica is an experienced, pragmatic leader who does not stand on ceremony. Above all, he considers his crew to be his family.

Kara Thrace 'Starbuck'
The fleet's most talented, passionate and rebellious Viper pilot (callsign "Starbuck").

Lee Adama 'Apollo'
In a morally ambiguous world, Apollo aspires to do the right thing, often at any cost. Son of Admiral Adama, Apollo possesses thoughtful rationality and a strong code of ethics.

Galen Tyrol 'Chief'

The Galactica's unpretentious deck chief always stands up for the little guy especially if that means safeguarding the welfare of his enlisted crew.

HUMAN SHIPS

-STRIKE CRAFT-

Viper Mk II
Although designed over 40 years ago, the Viper Mk II remains an outstanding interceptor and space superiority fighter that's proved more than capable of matching the Cylon Raider in speed, agility and firepower. Recently, several of the fleet's Vipers have been rigged with small FTL drives to allow long-range operations.

As an Interceptor, the Viper Mk II can be equipped with more engine systems than other strike craft, increasing its already impressive performance.

Raptor
The eyes and ears of the Colonial Fleet, the Raptor is designed for rapid reconnaissance and combat support and coordination via its impressive sensor and communications suite. It can also be equipped with a variety of light autocannon and missile pods for both defensive and offensive operations.

As a Command ship, the Raptor can be equipped with more computer systems than other strike craft, increasing its electronic warfare and support capabilities.

Rhino
An extremely rugged and heavily armored strike craft, only a small number of Rhinos have so far been discovered by the Colonial Fleet, and bringing them back into service requires a significant investment of time and resources. However, their ability to withstand incredible punishment has already made them highly valued.

As an Assault ship, the Rhino can be equipped with more hull systems than other strike craft, further increasing its toughness and defensive capabilities.

-ESCORTS-

Scythe
The smallest of the three classes of abandoned escorts that the ground crews of the Galactica and Pegasus have so far managed to salvage, repair and bring back into service, over half of the Scythe's hull is taken up by its tylium reactors and drive assembly. The resulting high thrust-to-mass ratio allows rapid response to incoming threats and lightning strikes against the enemy.

As an Interceptor, the Scythe can be equipped with more engine systems than other escorts, increasing its already impressive performance.

Glaive
More advanced than the other two abandoned escort classes reclaimed by the Colonial Fleet, the Glaive is a compact, powerful design incorporating extensive electronic suites and computer hardware. Only a small number have been discovered, drifting derelict in space near the wreckage of a small asteroid base.

As a Command ship, the Glaive can be equipped with more computer systems than other escorts, increasing its electronic warfare and support capabilities.

Maul
Sturdy and solidly built, the Maul is the largest of the three classes of abandoned escorts that the Colonial Fleet has managed to recover and retrofit for service. Its reinforced hull and heavy armor plating make it ideally suited to close escort and guard duties.

As an Assault ship, the Maul can be equipped with more hull systems than other escorts, further increasing its toughness and defensive capabilities.

-LINE SHIPS-

Aesir
The most advanced line ship design so far recovered by the Colonial Fleet, the Aesir features high output reactors and drive assemblies that, when repaired and re-aligned, produce incredible thrust for a ship of its size.

As a Heavy Interceptor, the Aesir can be equipped with more engine systems than other line ships, increasing its already impressive performance.

Vanir
The distinctive twin-hull design of the Vanir incorporates multiple sensor and emitter grids in a paired configuration that, when restored to working order by the ground crews of the Galactica and Pegasus, have proved to be extremely powerful and effective.

As a Heavy Command vessel, the Vanir can be equipped with more computer systems than other line ships, increasing its electronic warfare and support capabilities.

Jotunn
The largest abandoned ship class that the Colonial Fleet has so far managed to recover and return to service, the Jotunn's massive construction and capability to advance under the most withering fire has already earned it a reputation as a 'baby battlestar'.

As a Heavy Assault vessel, the Jotunn can be equipped with more hull systems than other line ships, further increasing its toughness and defensive capabilities.

CYLON CHARACTERS

Six
This Cylon model may wield her drop-dead looks as a weapon, but she also shows true affection for others and is powerfully devoted to the Cylons' singular deity. Beyond that, her numerous physical bodies each possess varying personalities and roles. One was Caprica Six — whose seduction of Baltar enabled the Cylon destruction of the 12 Colonies.

Eight – Sharon 'Boomer' Valeri
Sharon believed she was a well-liked Raptor pilot (callsign "Boomer") until her true identity as a Cylon infiltrator was revealed. That copy of Sharon was killed on the Galactica (and resurrected on Caprica).

One 'Cavil'
Although a Cavil once posed as a member of the Colonial clergy, this Cylon model actually tends to show little respect for religion. Instead, the Cavils are ruthlessly pragmatic, cynical and even sadistic. They also have a dark sense of humor.

Two 'Leoben'
Leoben speaks the language of fate, destiny and prophecy — sometimes with eerie accuracy — but he has also been established to be an expert liar and manipulator.

CYLON SHIPS

-STRIKE CRAFT-

Raider
Sleek and deadly, the Raider is the primary Interceptor of the Cylon fleet, designed to use its speed and agility to perform rapid strikes and chase down slower, less maneuverable targets. Like all Cylon vessels, it is a biomechanical construct commanded by a 'pilot mind' that literally becomes the ship.

As an Interceptor, the Raider can be equipped with more engine systems than other strike craft, increasing its already impressive performance.

Heavy Raider
A support and communications craft capable of processing vast quantities of tactical data and disrupting enemy systems with combinations of viral attack and jamming, the Heavy Raider's oversized hull can also transport several Centurions or humanoid Cylons.

As a Command ship, the Heavy Raider can be equipped with more computer systems than other strike craft, increasing its electronic warfare and support capabilities.

Marauder
A heavy strike craft hull recovered from the base of the mysterious Cylons who abandoned this sector at some point in the past. Although some delicate reconfiguration is required for full compatibility, the Marauder's high density hull materials provide far greater protection than standard Cylon strike craft.

As an Assault ship, the Marauder can be equipped with more hull systems than other strike craft, further increasing its toughness and defensive capabilities.

-ESCORTS-

Banshee
The first of three abandoned escort designs that the Cylon fleet has so far managed to recover and return to active status, the Banshee is a fast attack ship built for speed and maneuverability, capable of supporting friendly strike craft or rapid response to enemy attacks.

As an Interceptor, the Banshee can be equipped with more engine systems than other escorts, increasing its already impressive performance.

Spectre
Only a small number of Spectre escort hulls have been recovered by the Cylon Fleet, and bringing them back into active service requires complex recoding and interface configuration to make full use of their advanced processing and emitter nexuses. The result, however, is a powerful electronic warfare and support platform.

As a Command ship, the Spectre can be equipped with more computer systems than other escorts, increasing its electronic warfare and support capabilities.

Wraith
Angular and bulky, the recovered Wraith hulls appear to have been influenced by human design principles in what may have been some form of experimental project. High density hull plating and structural reinforcements make it extremely effective in close escort and guard duties.

As an Assault ship, the Wraith can be equipped with more hull systems than other escorts, further increasing its toughness and defensive capabilities.

-LINE SHIPS-

Fenrir
Incredibly swift for a ship of its size, the recovered Fenrir hulls have proved to be among the most complex and advanced designs left behind by the mysterious Cylons who abandoned this sector at some point in the past. Returning them to active service requires a massive investment of time and resources, but the Fenrir's combination of speed and firepower is highly effective.

As a Heavy Interceptor, the Fenrir can be equipped with more engine systems than other line ships, increasing its already impressive performance.

Hel
Obviously intended for use as a battlefield command and control platform, the recovered Hel class hulls are honeycombed with data processing, sensor and emitter plexuses that rival the capabilities of a Basestar hybrid.

As a Heavy Command vessel, the Hel can be equipped with more computer systems than other line ships, increasing its electronic warfare and support capabilities.

Jormung
The largest ship class so far recovered by the Cylon Fleet, the Jormung's massive wedge-shaped hull is thickly armored and heavily braced, offering superior protection from enemy fire and allowing the ship to act as a mobile fortress on both offensive and defensive operations.

As a Heavy Assault vessel, the Jormung can be equipped with more hull systems than other line ships, further increasing its toughness and defensive capabilities.

MINING

To gain Tylium, Titanium and water you must mine asteroids (the smaller ones and not the larger ones).

The best way to do this is to have the mineral scanner installed. Then you just have to scan the asteroid to find out its content and mine it. If you select an asteroid, then click the scanner the asteroid will have a color flow over it. Once you have discovered if the asteroid is worth mining you can destroy it. Normal cannons do work when shooting asteroids, however mining cannons will do bonus damage to asteroids, and less damage to opponents. Once you are in cannon range then you are free to shoot the asteroid. Once the asteroid has been destroyed, you will get the “loot” box show up. Just take all as normal, and it will be transferred to your inventory.

The color reflects the asteroids content:

Red: Empty
Yellow: Tylium
Blue: Water
Purple: Titanium

is this a fair game!? dont think so…
    This is my LAST message;
I’ll first give my respects to friends, then spell out the truth to your face.
I have no reason to lie to any of you; And i’ll speak the truth.
So, be CIVIL and let me explain myself and the UGLY TRUTH.
    —————————————————————————————————–
    * I am BANE. The one you hate the most, OR the friend who would never let you down.
    * I have been playing since BETA; And -you are free to deny yet statistics never lie- i had been on the top of food chain since then. When i am into something, i don’t stop until i reach #1.
    * And i had actually reached the unmatched status and statistics on my active playtime.
    * Thus it was actually a good timing of my leave, i left at the peak. #1 on PVP Kills, #1 on Strike Arena, #1 on Liner Arena, #1 on LEGIT PVP K/D Ratio. There aren’t any stats better.
    * Then i left.
    ——————————- *** ———————————
    MY RESPECTS
    * There are tons of good players that i know and helped of training. We had GREAT time.
    * Apart from my legendary Red Sharks team (God bless you all for your hospitality, civility and loyality) and my Spanish friends (Leading Velesar and Kouga), i must give one name : CaptnChaos A.K.A. Gernot. He and i started at almost the same time and been friendly rivals since then. I must thank him the most for his undying support.
    * But there’s one person who had been the greatest mentor, friend and competant to me in my entire gamer history : Dooh. — Like him or not, hate him or respect him, with Dooh on your side, you’d NEVER lose. A great friend, a wingman, a chieftain-in-equal-basis and a great BSGO player. I know i’d do good, but i’d never reach where i was if it wasn’t for you, Ilya. Thanks for everything and remember that you can always reach me through Facebook and Skype whenever you need me for anything, and i’ll see you soon at GoW (Along with my GF XD).
    * My RedSharks (And TopGuns) team : Thank you all for staying on our side at all times. We never lost, we always brutally won, and actually been the ones who brough BALANCE into LIBRAN. Cylons were cying in Muspell and protesting before our formation, for frak’s sake!
    * Colonials : I know i pissed you guys off for a long time, sue me. For the ones who had fought like a man, thank you. Rest, go play super mario.
    ——————————- *** ———————————
    WHERE IS BANE?
    * Bane currently plays LoL and WoW with his gamer GF and prepares to go GoW and troll Dooh’s face.
    * I’m always available in Facebook if you need ideas or whatever.
    —————————— *** ———————————
    WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR SHIP?
    * Banned by Imperial-ISM himself! (I’ll explain later in this post)
    * I’d fight for it, or use one of my many “uhuhu” accounts and regain almost every of my former statistics – yet i won’t. This game is bound to DIE, and i’m bored of the lack of competition.
    ——————————- *** ———————————
    WHAT’s GOING ON?
    * You might know, BigPoint has a weird “to do” list for hackers, cheaters and exploiters.
    * You know what they do? => NOTHING.
    * NOTHING. I’m serious. Use ANY hack and ANYTHING => Unless someone important points at you and gives more-than-enough evidence, ONLY THEN, you MIGHT get banned => Which is mostly ignored too!!!
    * No rain-checks, no log-checks, no stat-checks, NOTHING. I can count AT LEAST 50 ships in Libran with hacked equipment and stats, give names, evidences, but BP would do NOTHING. You know why? I’m not important to them. Perhaps, not anymore.
    * Or maybe perhaps that they CANNOT find these people? Oh hell yeah, they cannot. They would’ve, if they could.
    ——————————- *** ———————————
    WHAT’S UP WITH YOU?
    * From June 2011 to May 2012, i’ve worked as a Board Admin for Turkish Board.
    * I’ve worked my ass out, did ALL the reports, translations, announcements, notifications. Never gave up, never got tired. In forum i gave more Guides to tons of dimwits along with all the cleaning work, more than you’d imagine. I was the person who kept the TR board and forum going.
    * All the talks -to upper boards- and all the translations were MY job. You know why? Because Turkish Team Leader knows only a little of English! A TEAM LEADER, for frak’s sake. But whatever. Who cares, right? Not even BigPoint does.
    * But that was not the only thing i did : I worked as a double-agent, in favor of Big Point.
    ——————————- *** ———————————
    A DOUBLE-AGENT?
    * Yes. BSGO had and still has TONS of loopholes; Which people STILL exploit and make tons of $$$ from it.
    * Without someone -who works as a double-agent- to inform BigPoint, how could the former loopholes could be sealed?
    * Who helped BigPoint to find tons of exploits for to prevent more and more people from cheating?
    * That person, was me.
    * Yet i’ve been betrayed. By my own Team Leader and Imperial_ISM, -who cannot even comprehend who’s the good guy and who’s the bad-.
    ——————————- *** ———————————
    YOUR TEAM LEADER?
    * You know there’s one significant player who changes his name on a daily basis in Libran, while many of you had been rejected for asking.
    * Capt_Serkan, Poacher, Turrkish, SharonValerii… All, the same guy. You noticed it, havent you?
    * Protected by his ICM (Upper board Manager), he was (still is) able to do ANYTHING to his ship since Beta. Loading 20000 Tuning Kits onboard? No problem. Change name anytime? No problem. Chatban anyone you want? No problem. DELETE ACCOUNTS OF YOUR ENEMIES? No problem. Any of you guys ever wonder what happened to Turk’s account? DELETED. Because he fought with him.
    * And he also protects his Anatolian_Wing team, which is COMPLETELY consisted of Turkish Forum/Chat Moderators group!!! Go and say “noob” to ANY Anatolian_Wing player => You get 30 day chatban.
    * And when he finds out about any cheats? What do you think he’d do? Turn it in without using?
    * Definitely NOT.
    ——————————- *** ———————————
YOU MEAN YOUR TEAM LEADER HAD CHEATED?
    * BIG time. Apart from all the Tuning Kits he received from the ICM, he used EVERY. SINGLE. CHEAT. that i had reported before it was prevented.
    * What’s more? HE USED ALL OF THEM ON THE ENTIRE ANATOLIAN_WING TEAM TOO!!!
    ——————————- *** ———————————
HOLY F**K. BUT, WHAT DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH YOUR BAN?
    * Our deal was simple : I turned in the cheats, warned BigPoint. He used them on his ship too. Thus BigPoint was letting us go. Becuase we were actually helping them MUCH more than the damage we caused! (Try to cover up this if you want, Imperial_ISM; I still have the Skype chat logs.)
    * But there was one problem out of the deal => Anatolians.
    * I told him PRECISELY that NOT to help Anatolians because they’d damage the Libran Balance, as Colonials were already outnumbering the Cylons.
    * He said he wouln’t, but he did. He gave FULL-15 BUILDS + TONS OF MERITS to EACH of them. Aren’t you guys aware of the recently-overpowered ships of EIEN, Akdeniz, Wolf_61 and 61_oflu_61 and others? You think that “magically” happened?
    * I told him : “Either you’ll logon to these ships and delete their equipment or i won’t be taking responsibility when upper board, especially Richard (Imperial_ISM) finds out”
    * For several reasons; He chosed them instead of me; Made me the “one to blame for everything” to save himself and his team; And for to get rid of me (And drop me to an “unimportant person” level for BigPoint) he accused me of the thing that BigPoint hates most : Selling Accounts. Thus i’d both be banned and anything i’d say would be unimportant for BP.
    * I had been given a false accusation and Richard (Imperial_ISM) banned me and ignored my messages, while MY TEAM LEADER WAS STILL USING/DISTRIBUTING THE HACK BEHIND HIS BACK.
    ——————————- *** ———————————
    UGLY TRUTH
    * ENTIRE TURKISH BOARD TEAM (Team Leader + Anatolians) are using heavily-cheated ships, used from the hacks THAT I’VE TURNED IN for BigPoint’s favor. (You KNOW that this is TRUE, Richard. I’ve warned you that this would happen.)
    * BigPoint had lost its prime hack-finder and one of the best players because of a false and non-proven accusation.
    * There are still 2 more actively-used hacks going on ingame and BP has NO IDEA of it. Guess why.
    * There are HUNDREDS of HACKED ships on ALMOST ALL servers. And it’s increasing rapidly.
    * Turkish Team Leader is using the most heavily-hacked game of the entire BSGO player database, and he’s protected by an ICM.
    * You guys are playing and wasting your money on a both DYING and a heavily-unfair game.
    * BigPoint had refused and still refusing to listen to my warnings => YOUR LOSS. Everyone’s loss.
    ——————————- *** ———————————
    MY FAREWELL
    * I did my best for everyone that had trusted in me. Never turned you down, never lied to you.
    * I’ve said the truth, yet nobody listened to me. I don’t give a damn. Not my loss. I left at the #1 place anyway.
    * Good luck to BigPoint for finding out these hacks while noone’s reporting them. They’ll need it.
    * I’d hope that you’d have a more developed thought before accusing your only source for reaching hacks, Richard.
    * Everyone else, Have a Good Game (If you can) and have a good life from this point.
After all, i have no regrets. I have did my best for EVERYONE (Including BP) yet sometimes there are d**ckheads who understand NOTHING from the term “appreciation” and wait for any chance to backstab you for their own gain.

    Farewell.

    Bane out.
