With its newest update 'Big Guns', War Thunder today receives additional aircraft, new armoured vehicles and in-game items as well as visual improvements, map enhancements and deformable terrain.

Big Guns introduces the largest vehicles of the 2nd world war: the super-heavy tank, Pz.Kpfw.VIII Maus weighing an unbelievable 188 tons and the formidable bomber B29 Superfortress, with a wingspan larger than some modern airliners. The Soviet tech tree is additionally expanded by the introduction of the early version of the legendary Il-2 Sturmovik, which possesses the most detailed armour modelling (30 individual components) on any plane in a flight simulator to date. Players will enjoy 14 new tanks and planes in total.

The update moreover adds a variety of in-game items, which can be obtained in a various ways, including purchases via the in-game store, being victorious in battles, and receiving them as special gifts and logging in daily. These items can grant, amongst many other stuff, premium tanks or planes as well as discounts.

With the introduction of terrain differences, this update furthermore makes War Thunder more realistic, as tanks now move faster over roads but slow down and drift more when hitting soil or mud. The vehicles indeed start to chew up the earth, carving deep grooves in their path, which, of course, also affects their appearance, leaving them covered in dirt and dust.

However, this isn't all yet. War Thunder also receives an enhanced visual quality and performance for low-end PCs, binocular views and driver cameras for more realistic tank game modes, operable canopies for aircraft and night lights and contrails for planes.
