New Details on Otherland

Otherland - news

As Otherland is moving towards its full launch this year, developer DRAGO entertainment has just revealed further details and hold out hope to us that the wait won't last much longer as the next beta testing is planned for February.

Based on the best-selling novels by Tadd Williams, Otherland takes players to a number of virtual worlds, each with a completely unique look, connected by the same anchor: the "Lambda Mall", a central hub brimming with player apartments, shops and bars for players to socialise.

Otherland tempts with a revolutionary crafting system enabling players to craft armour and weapons based on eDNA, which implies that all items have their own virtual identity. Players will extract eDNA fragments from enemies they’ve killed instead of receiving recipes as loot drop or purchasing them from vendors, and once the eDNA strain is complete, they'll craft items characteristic for that NPC. Crafting will require various types of SOMA, the central game resource, in different quantities and in order to add further variety, items will be created with 1 to 3 sockets which can then be filled with 3 types of crystals to improve various stats.

"We want to offer our players the chance to create their own, perfect armour at any time without restrictions," told DRAGO CEO Lucjan Mikociak.

The company is also working on a housing system called U|Space, which has been completely overhauled to make it more user-friendly and better-looking. Players are now offered a hub to easily jump between the many rooms and the option to store items, which has to be used with caution, as others may raid your apartment and randomly steal one of your items. The most valuable items are better stored at the U|Cache based in Lambda Mall, the only free and really safe storage.
