Cryptic Studios and Perfect World Entertainment, Inc. have just communicated the release of the 3rd free expansion Module for the Dungeons and Dragons MMORPG, Neverwinter. Curse of Icewind Dale is scheduled for later this spring and will introduce new PvE and PvP campaigns as well as revised PvP ladders and matchmaking to significantly change and enlarge the game's PvP aspect. Players can also look forward to post-level cap advancement and a new Hunter Ranger Paragon Path.
Players will be able to team up to explore the renowned Icewind Dale region, now corrupted by undead wizard Akar Kessell with the potent Black Ice which will make for new faction-based battlezones and PvP options: Players can join either the Arcane Brotherhood or the Ten-Towners to compete for control of the Black Ice-producing regions of Icewind Dale.
"Curse of Icewind Dale is a direct result of player feedback and our long standing plans for Neverwinter," said Cryptic Studios Executive Producer and COO, Craig Zinkievich. "Between the upcoming massive PvE campaign and major PvP changes, there will be something new and exciting for everyone."
Besides the new Icewind Dale region brimming with new places to explore, new encounters and bosses as well as new PvP features, the module encourages players to battle over Black Ice, required to produce some of the most powerful items in the game. This resource can be found throughout the Icewind Dale region but is faster earned through open-world PvP battles.
