Blizzard Presents a New Game, Overwatch

Overwatch - news

At this year's BlizzCon, Blizzard has presented a great novelty: Overwatch, an impressive first person shooter that will be released in 2015. The game is set in a completely new universe, coming from the ashes of their failed project, Titan.

The game brings us to a very technologically advanced and highly stylized earth, in which a global crisis caused that an organization, Overwatch, composed of scientists, soldiers and adventurers had come together to restore peace in a world at war, which succeeded after a few years, but as its existence was no longer needed the influence of the group faded, and Overwatch eventually disappeared. But although Overwatch no longer exists, the world still needs heroes who monitor it and protect it.

The game puts a lot of emphasis on being fun and accessible, and offers a game experience in which players will have to join teams of six players and face other teams of players in all kinds of futuristic versions of real places, from a bazaar in the shadows of a high-tech Egyptian pyramids to a London filled with floating buses and holograms. Each map is different and iconic, and is built to highlight each character’s unique abilities, that they are going to use in frantic fights in streets, roofs, buildings and open skies. Overwatch heroes are ready to test their skills and their weapons.

Overwatch is our take on a vibrant, near-future universe with amped-up characters and action-packed team-based gameplay,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “With every new Blizzard game, we look at our favorite aspects of a genre and put our own spin on things. Our goal with Overwatch is to create an awesome FPS experience that’s more accessible to a much wider audience while delivering the action and depth that shooter fans love."

A measure which the game progresses, new maps and heroes will continually be added and the beta test will start in 2015. Due to the interest that the game has awoken, we will keep you informed of all the upcoming news about Overwatch.
