When looking over the free to play games that we cover it’s fair to say that the most popular platform for the F2P format so far is the PC/Windows, embraced early on due to the wider accessibility as both a gaming platform and being optimal for machines of various qualities it allows for a much varied quality of game.   • War Thunder - Whilst this vehicle based shooter MMO allows players to command hundreds of different vehicles in a WW2 battleMMO, including a variety of tanks and armored vehicles, it is the flight combat that really makes the game shine. With detailed graphics and high end physics the game becomes more simulator than simple shooter and players will feel every bullet as it bites into their hull with unique damage locations on every vehicle that will hinder and ultimately disable both planes and ground vehicles. There are a variety of factions to choose from, each with their own independent technology tree to gain access to some of the most famous and powerful vehicles that took part in World War 2.

  • Lord of the Rings Online - Whilst the game has been out quite some time now it is still going strong with new expansions and updates as players’ journey across the dark troubled lands of Middle Earth as JRR Tolkien’s vision is given life in this MMORPG epic fantasy. Players can create their own hero and take the lead role in their own saga, choosing from a variety of iconic races and taking on numerous classes, the battle for Middle Earth against the forces of the Dark Lord Sauron have never been so intense. With both quest based PVE content and a unique PVP system that has players fighting as alternative characters, either as the allied forces of Men or the creatures, races and monsters of Sauron in action packed PVP battles. Players are able to purchase a variety of Adventure Packs to give them access to new locations, items and game features, which are continuously added and players can choose whether they wish to pay real cash to have access to them.

  • Star Conflict - A distant battle in a new sector of space sees mighty corporations battling it out with hired mercenaries fighting amongst each other in their own spaceships, as one such pilot players will head into the unknown and face off against corporate threats and alien dangers. With strong elements of ship/skill customization this space shooter provides and action packed MMO with an original sandbox feature that supports PVE and PVP as well as a faction based Corporations War that allows players to battle it out with each other for territory.

  • Wakfu - A rather original turn based Massively Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Game that has gained popularity in France due to its accompanying comic, trading card game, board game and animated series; the game follows on for the events of its predecessor MMO Dofus. The game boasts colourful graphics, elements of social gameplay such as running and voting for in game governors, the ability to run a farm and tend to crops as well as an exciting tactical RPG style combat. Players can access a variety of key D&D classes, from the traditional Paladin, Rogue, Druid and more and play as numerous races with full character customization.
