Today, Anno Online receives the largest update in its history which introduces a new 3D graphics engine as well as a PvE battle system. Ubisoft moreover announced plans to introduce PvP battles in the future.
The game now allows players to set up an armada of warships in order to fight back the pirates threatening their island. There are 3 different ships to choose from: the Caravel, Galley and the Brig. In addition, new buildings, such as the Repair Crane, are also available for players to populate their island.
New quests will task players to face off against the pirates at sea and defeat the boss. Battles are fought on a turn-based system, which challenges players’ strategic skills to defeat all hostile forces while keeping their own units alive. In case they are successful, they will be rewarded with items such as a new island slot or rare resources.
In addition to the PvE mode, the new 3D graphics engine brings updates including new water effects and a revamp of all ship models which includes new visible levels of destruction for each warship during combat.
