Albion Online: Details on Player-driven Cities

Albion Online - news

Sandbox Interactive has released a few further details on player-driven cities featured in their upcoming cross-platform sandbox MMO Albion Online. Initially totally empty and devoid of all civilasation, these cities can be claimed by players to construct buildings and establish trade and economy.

Players will have complete power and control over these cities the game world is spotted with and create entire new societies. Guilds have the opportunity to capture and claim any player city to gain benefits such as property taxe and tax revenue from the market place. However, the city and its facilities can still be accessed by non-guild members.

This means that not only guilds will benefit from player-driven cities but so will solo players. Instead of being dependent from the protection of a guild territory and backup, they will have the opportunity to enter the dangerous open PvP regions, knowing that their own house and crafting stations are never to far away.

"These new cities will be strewn throughout the world, including deep inside PvP territory; these cities will be places where all players, regardless of their guild affiliations, can build houses and storage for themselves, utilize crafting stations and trade at an auction house, access their vaults, and otherwise prepare themselves for venturing back out into danger", said Robin Henkys, Lead Game Designer at Sandbox Interactive.
