April 1st, 2010

Frogster has announced the expansion of the trading card system in Runes of Magic with a new feature and 48 new monster cards.

Each monster, including the notorious Demon Lord, will have a card which provides bonuses on character stats such as dexterity or stamina. These cards no longer simply act as trophies for the players but also provide valuable attribute upgrades. As well as the 48 new creatures which will be implemented in the first phase of this new release in Runes of Magic, there will also be over 800 different monsters in the so-called ‘Monster Compendium’. All these creatures will be listed in this compendium under ten categories including ‘Undead’ and ‘Beast’.

However, it is not simply through slaying monsters that players will be able to obtain these coveted monster cards. Trophy collectors and attribute hunters will also have the possibility of purchasing the cards from other players in auction houses or to trade them directly.

Bounty bay Online: capital cities activated

March 31st, 2010

Starting today, Frogster has activated the capital cities of the merchant’s alliances in Bounty Bay Online for the first time. From Friday at 20:00 CET the cities of Alexandria, Venice, Lisbon, Bordeaux and Amsterdam can be attacked and taken over by guilds in the merchant’s alliances. The existing city battles for War- and Commercial cities now have new times at the weekends. The encounters between the guilds fighting for dominance now offer additional tactical possibilities and exciting battles at sea and on land thanks to the readjustment and merging of city battle times as well as the implementation of merchant battles. These merchant cites which are now ready to be besieged, as well as the reorganization of the existing city battles, offer ‘city-less’ guilds in particular the opportunity to capture cities which up to now were defended by very large and influential guilds and alliances.

The eight cities which are available for city battles are divided into two categories ‘War Cities’ and ‘Materials Cities’. Both types can be conquered by guilds at certain times. Up until now the battles for the eight cities have been split evenly over four days with only two cities per day being allowed to be conquered. The compressing of the wars down to two days immediately demands additional tactical finesse from players, since guilds will on the one hand have a greater choice of cities to fight over and on the other, will also have to make sure that their own cities are adequately defended. War cities such as Oslo and Cape Town can with immediate effect be taken from 19:00 on Saturdays. As soon as a guild has captured one of the cities after a successful land and sea battle, and manages to keep it occupied, the guild will be awarded access to useful battle items. Material cities such as London and Nagasaki, among others, can be defended from 19:00 on Saturdays against potential occupiers and will enrich their regents with valuable resources.

Mortal Online has been delayed untill futher notice

March 31st, 2010

Through the Mortal Online forums, Henrik Nystrom, CEO of Star Vault, has announced that the launch of Mortal Online has been delayed. They will announce a final release date at a later time.

As you know we have been working hard to solve our desync issue within the game to have a proper release of Mortal Online. We have made some progress but we think we have hit the limits on the current version of the network solution we are using. We believed we had the solution before end of March but we now see that this is not possible at the moment therefore we have to postpone the release for another month. We have been working very hard day and night now for some years and finally started to see the goal and release, we just have to put another gear in before we are going to release Mortal Online. Thank you for your feedback and support that helped us to take this important decision.

Both the community and we here at Star Vault agree that we need to have the desync issue solved before we can release Mortal Online. We have decided to upgrade our network solution with Epic Games to improve the overall network structure.
We have already started the merge a week ago which means we are converting all our current features and content into the new structure, this will take some time for us to finish before we can test the result of this with your help in the open beta. We will also fly some of our programmers to the US where Epic Games are located to work within their team to get their fully support on our game and update of the network structure in an efficient way other than distance cooperation. This will improve the speed and quality of us going into the latest build of Unreal Engine and the network solution which should eliminate most of our current issues, both in performance and network wise. While our programmers work directly on the merge and some bug fixing our artists will continue to work on the world, and bring us a few new interest points to Nave. This also means we get the latest build of Unreal Engine which gives us the opportunity to evaluate SpeedTree 5.1 and some other interesting tools.”

Dekaron: massive update

March 30th, 2010

GameHi, Inc.,  announces a key milestone and worldwide mega update to Dekaron, the massively multiplayer online role-playing game, also known as 2Moons directed by David Perry, in North America.

This major update, Dekaron 6.5: It’s a Good Day to Die, offers players a variety of new events and elements with the main focus around battle. Fans will now experience the new DK Square system, the Trans Up quest and the Land of the Dead map providing fans true balance and more depth for an overall complete gaming experience.

The new DK Square System includes an inter-server battlefield, a PvP grading system, exclusive armors and a new PvP map, Abyss of Crespo. This means that Dekarons from all servers, regardless of level and personal connections, can meet each other at DK Square and experience massive PvP battle. GameHi approached this update like a casual game allowing users at any level to truly enjoy the system. Players can also increase their grade with “grade points” received from DK Square.

Further encouraging players to grow their characters by hunting down monsters (mobs) or while fighting in battle, The Trans Up Quest allows every player above LV131 to gain the right to TransUp and learn new skills by completing it. Additionally, the Land of the Dead is a new map offering everything but repetitive quests and “hack and slash”. Rather users have to work in teams to clear missions. Battle events will take place during certain times of the day allowing players to meet and adventure with new powerful monsters with new weapons.
